Why now

Electric Vehicle (EV) battery supply chains are at high risk for modern slavery, and regulatory scrutiny is only intensifying. Individual buyers rarely have the leverage to drive change alone.

EASI-F gives energy organisations a structured, pre-competitive forum to align on due diligence standards, share risk insights, and engage suppliers without compromising procurement independence or competition law obligations.

Purpose and structure

The purpose of this forum is to:

  • Align on a shared baseline for EV-related human rights due diligence to support consistent procurement governance and disclosure practices across the sector
  • Commission and share pre-competitive risk insights and practical due diligence tools
  • Coordinate non-commercial engagement with EV manufacturers and key suppliers
  • Benefits

Members receive practical, ready-to-use tools and collective leverage that would be difficult to achieve alone, including a pre-competitive risk mapping report, human rights due diligence protocol, a consolidated supplier questionnaire tailored to EV manufacturers, and coordinated joint engagement with EV manufacturers and distributors.

    Competition law and confidentiality safeguards

The Forum has been structured expressly to comply with Australian competition law. Collaboration is strictly limited to pre-competitive activities with no discussion or sharing of pricing, commercial terms, tender strategies or other competitively sensitive information. Members are required to agree to the Forum's Terms of Reference.
